With the engine on and the key in the ignition, press and hold the start button for about 2 seconds. Then wait a few seconds, until the lights on the remote stop flashing. Then take out the keys. The car will stay running.
Hell yeah it worked the first time
i'm known to run in the store and leave my ride running
know i'll feel alot safer with it locked

thanks for the heads up!

That remote tip is the shit. Worked 1st time. Now I dont have to keep restarting the truck just to keep it warm while I run in for a newspaper and coffee.
Thanks

I'd go almost so far as to say that's my favorite feature, and it's not even why I got that one....lol.

how complicated is this to install myself? <I have an '99 Tahoe>

For me, the biggest part is the security feature...pretty good system that won't allow the truck to start in case thieves break in?

Not sure, but I'm going to take a stab at it. If I end up doing it, I'll put up a how-to post.

Sounds about right. Had mine done cheap by a friend who does installs for a living, but if I didn't have that hookup it would've been in the $200 range.

I have had this alarm for about 2 years now and I love it. My buddy has the 5901, but the remote is a little too big for my taste. Another feature that I like is that you turn off your sensors (ie perimeter, shock and such) by using the remote. At work, I turn off my perimeter sensor, because the parking spaces are so narrow that people walk close to my truck all the time. Oh yeah, that led is bright as hell at night, lights up my fronts seat, lol!
