TM is where GM detunes the engine at higher RPM so that it saves wear and tear on the drivetrain, tranny, rear-end gears, etc.

I think they have it almost all vehicles. My 04 Trailblazer has it too. About to get a PCM4Less tune to remove it there as well.

By getting a tune to have it removed or reduced by whatever prcentage you'd like. Mine is 75% reduced. Others are 100% removed/reduced. I should have gotten 100% reduction as well. I regret not doing it.

As always though, there is a trade-off. Some people may think it's a big one. IDK.

By removing the TM, your stressing out the tranny pretty good. The 4l60 is thought to be already too weak for our trucks. If there is any problem with it at all and it is pretty much 11years or older and bone stock, then you are probablly shortening it's lifespan. Mine is bone stock and old, so I understand that one day it may go on me.. Ok fine, I'll get a new one then.
Until then, I'm going to enjoy my 'GO'! :D

in the 96 there is barely any torque management anyways so it really shouldnt put too much extra strain on the tranny if you get it removed, also if you stiffen the shifts up it is actually better for the transmission because when it "slides" into gear like it feels like it does stock it builds up more heat putting more wear on the tranny. so even though you remove the T.M. that is there to protect it you can change the shifts so that the shifts are stiffer, wich would be good performance wise and better for the tranny. but you do have to consider, like 99 yuk said that it is old and would be expected to wear out sometime. i got my tune with 100% tm removed and stiffer shifts in january and ROMP on my tahoe on every light (when i have the extra gas money) and hit the drag strip every week with my buddys on open race night and ive seen no trans problems yet at all so i say go for it. it definatly makes a hell of a difference

i need to do that, oh and i just noticed that you stroked your engine, make sure you say that in the order form for the tune. how much did it cost you to stroke it? i was thinking about maybe doing that when i have some extra spare time and money

this crank
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ESP-103523750/

rods were supplied by machine shop as well as clevite bearings

machine work was approx 1800..also had the heads ported and polished and had a custom ground 3-4 race cam so it works with stock pcm
cam specs:
lift .512
duration 281
after parts assembly and machine work just over $2500
not to mention i added a 7 quart oil pan high performance oil pump, 1:5 roller tip rockers, msd 6al dist coil wires ac delco plugs electric fans new oil lines, radiator, im well over 5k on this thing. it took me a little over year to get it running again but im very happy. now all i gotta do for more power is upgrade the heads .
hopfully after i get this bb tune ill be able to feel like i paid that much.

the tb restrictor was really easy and u feel the difference right way. once u remove the rivets there will be 2 holes u have to plug. i just used some jb weld and seems to be hold up fine.
check out my youtube i have some video of me working on it

just installed my servo. took only about 30mins and 3 tools (needle nose pliers, Flathead screwdriver and c clamp)

servo2.jpg

feels great! im not chirping tires but the 1-2 shift feels alot better even at WOT. no more lag between the shift..kicks right into gear. too it on the freeway and 3-4 shifts alot firmer. cruising around the city the transmission shifts WAAAYYYY smoother almost effortlessly. feels like some major work was done. very happy with the results..best $20 ever spent!
