anybody running a single 12?

I'm contemplating a w7 or a kicker square and throwing something like 1000 watts at it. Just curious how a single might sound in something this large(burban) I was looking at the ported box JL sells with the w7 installed already. Like to pair it up with JL's big 5 channel amp

I currently have a pair of 12" kicker cvr's downfiring in a sealed box with something like 300watts, it sounds decent but looking for a tad more.

also, I've got phoneix gold ryval 2-way door speakers. They sound clear and are quite loud but how do they compare to something like a set of JL components?
Or if I was looking to do components whats my best choice in the $200-$450 a set range?

image dynamics components in doors with a 100x4 sundown amp
a 3512 12" digital designs sub with a soundigital 1000/1 amp?

I have a single Punch DVC 12 in a bandpass box and I love it! If you do 1 JL 12 in a JL box, and throw 1K watts at it, it will jam! I have no doubt about that.

What I did was replace the head unit (which boosted the signal going to the factory amp, so now the stock Bose system is louder), then I added a Soundstream 480W amp and used 2 channels to run the Punch 12 (bridged parallel) and used the other 2 for a set of Fosgate Prime 6x9's to suppliment the Bose system. I am 100% happy with everything, and it was super cheap too.

i would try 2 of these in a nice ported box http://www.audioque.com/HDC312-Copper-Coil-Subwoofer_p_23.html for half the price each handles what the w7 does and alot more if u know how to tune the amp and u can power them with this amp if u havent bought the jl audio amp u can get this alot cheaper and better this stuff is hand made here in the US unlike jl audio stuff is all made in china http://www.audioque.com/AQ2200D-Amplifier_p_31.html and trust they would slam all over the w7
reason I want a single is to not take up as much room. I figure a single in a correct box will use the same amount of room I'm using now.

I think I've scratched the JL idea. If you read above where a friend gave his advice on what to get and blow the JL away.

Well first off.. IMO infinity components are raspy tinny eveil little things that NEVER sound as good as their price dictates.. run a Focal Access or Poly Glass for that price range and youll never look back.

The sub.. yea.. everyone has their own taste.. and we can debate which sub will do which all day.. and obviously i have my own personal taste too.. and i would say i like the Addictive Audio stuff and i can hook you up with a great deal on one of their lvl3 12s that will do WORK but.. i think no matter what your brand of choice is.. NO ONE can say anything bad about the DD stuff.. the DD subs are pretty universally accepted as a bad ass sub.. and if i wasnt running AA.. DD would be my next choice.

Those look pretty serious! How long has this company been around? What's their deal? I read the site, but I want to know what real people think.

Yeah, stick with one. Done right, 1 12 is plenty, yet also convenient.

I've been wondering about JLs quality these days. In case you can't tell, I may be a little out of touch with the car audio game, but when I was deep in it, JL had the best quality per price than anybody. Period. What's their deal these days? How much have they changed? Anybody know?

The equipment is still nice.. really quality stuff.. but best bang for the buck.. is a term im sure NO ONE uses to define jl.. ever. When you buy JL.. youre renting the name to go with it.
