The one in my CC is starting to bug me but I have an issue with the $450 that a new one costs, and the covers would drive me just as crazy since you can tell they're a cover, especially around the openings like the airbag. I saw the guy's video where he did it with the stapler and the black ones seem to come out almost perfect, he said they show the least. Since mine's black, I think I'll try the stapler method. You need to hold the crack together tight when you're stapling it. That sounds weird lol.

mine has one small typical crack, I figure if it cracks anymore I will just buy a replacement and put it in, to me if I am going to pull the old one out im going to put a new one in and reinforce it in the known crack areas before putting it back in with some flexible laminate strips and epoxy (something like the sticks that come in the package of cheese and crackers but thinner), I would never be satisfied with it still being cracked and simply repaired. I would sit and stare it like some OCD problem, lol, I don't know why it is so hard for GM to just re-design the dye in the known crack areas, I guess then they would be forced to admit it was a design flaw......

If you look at the original video in my post you will see that he used the metal strips from old windshield wipers. I will say that so far I have put around 5,000 miles on the truck and it is holding fine. I'm going to go until fall and see how it is and then I may put a new dash in with some support. I think the staples are key even with a new dash

Thought I would roll out an update. Probably have 5,000 miles plus on the repair. The cracks have not increased and the repair is holding up fine. I helped a friend who was just barely starting to show and it came out a lot better then mine so the key is getting to it early but even if it is bad like mine was it will be better. One thing I did do was that I noticed on back roads the center speaker was starting to vibrate a lot so I popped the speaker out went in and cut some foam to insert on the back side of the dash and now it is rock solid. That should help stabilize and keep stress off repairs. I was going to get a new dash this summer but it is holding fine and I found other things to spend 400 on...

That's awesome that yours worked out and is holding up. Mine was too brittle, probably from the California sun. I bought the truck in SF. The entire thing broke even more when I was trying to remove it, including the big flat piece that goes by the windshield. I had no choice but to replace both the dash and that piece, over $700 altogether. I actually attempted the hot staples even though by then 2 cracks had turned into 6, then put it back in and 2 days later a new big crack showed up.

Yeah, starting condition is key. If I had gotten to it earlier the airbag one would look better.. But if I can get another year out of it before a new replacement I will be a happy guy, I know I have shocks to think about in the next year...

The one I bought was for my Silverado but my understanding is you just order the correct part for your vehicle, the numbers haven't changed just the parts. You can find your part number at an online dealer like https://www.gmpartsgiant.com/ . There's different colors too, obviously and we don't know the color of your interior.
