crank cam correlation help

Your circle is the #6 marking. The triangle on the flat part closest to the wire connector is the #8 spot. When at #1 TDC, that marking will line up with your rotor when fully seated

GM uses the same distributor for the 4.3L V6, so setting timing for the 6 cylinder lines up with #6 and the V8 timing lines up with the #8.

I used this method to manually set my timing (to clear a P1345 code).

However, I wound up getting P0300 and P0308 codes in its place and ultimately had to get my timing set by a diagnostic shop that had the proper scanner, which set me back about $80. Any way you choose, results may vary, so good luck.

So you have to set the engine to dead 0 then drop the distributor in paying close attention to the base and rotor alignment like I said in post 12. I'm astonished.
