dash says "low engine coolant" but is full???

anyone had this problem before? i also have the ses light. does auto parts stores rent the scanner tool? i wanna know whats wrong? thanks

not overheating and the tank is full. im guessing its a sensor but im trying to see if anyone has had this problem before.

ITS THE SENSOR mine did it before so i replace the whole tank i think i paid like 30 bucks at summit

Year and Engine size will help out a little. I'll assume it's a 5.3 Vortec

If I recall correct, the coolant sensor is inside the coolant reservoir. The wiring for the coolant level sensor is in the same loom as the MAF sensor wiring. Check your wiring in that loom, could be your issue

Autozone will check the code for you. Don't think they loan out tools however

My '01 Yukon XL started doing it this summer after not doing it for a few years. I looked and the reservoir was low. You may want to check sensor wiring.
