Dealer has had my '15 Denali for 3 months. What should I do?

You're right, it is totally unacceptable but totally unacceptable happens every day in every field of business so here we are. You really have to understand how logistics works these days. These parts are designed and manufactured all over the world and get shipped here, there, and everywhere. If GM looses a supplier, which is likely what happened, it takes time to make the deal, get manufacturing started, get parts shipped to warehouses, inventoried, and orders fulfilled. It's never intended to run out of parts. The 5th generation Camaro's release was delayed a few months because GM lost their supplier for some of the interior parts.

The OP hasn't stated (unless I missed it) whether he does or doesn't have a loaner or rental that GM is paying for.

A few dealers do have the gasket but generally when a hot item like this is backordered, the dealers who have them have them "ordered for a customer" and won't let them go.
ordered for a customer for 3 months? come on, someone needs some negotiating skills, if I order something from my dealer and I don't go retrieve it within a certain time period (not sure of the specified time period) then it becomes free game or gets sent back, it's happened to me before I ordered something forgot to go pick it up then remembered later only to discover it had to be ordered again. what would be the problem with picking up the phone calling a couple of the dealers that do have it in stock "held for customer order" and communicating hey I need this part if it is not picked up in the next week can I have it? you know how hard would that be???

I've been in manufacturing & supply chain distribution for almost 30 years. There are definitely times when a vendor/mfr just can't produce or ship a part, or they can't do so without a lengthy delay.

If this is the issue, it sucks, but it is what it is, and no amount of belly-aching is going to change that reality.

Maybe ask for a Tahoe/ Yukon loaner
Then they can take years to fix it and you won’t be out anything

I’m sure the dealer wants it off their hoist.

I’ve been told no they don’t. The only time you get a new gm rotor is when the car is new. Just like transmissions. Rebuilt. And resurfaced.
That was some time ago though. I’m going to recheck

Dealership had been quiet since I stopped by in person to check on the truck. I had some folks I know personally at GM check in on the status of the repair work via some process they have there. I suppose that helped move it along as I received a surprise call that they had the gasket dropped off late last week and my truck was ready to be picked up.

I'm out another $615 deductible for the warranty work. Hopefully, I can get GM to reimburse that cost.

While it was out of commission my trans has developed the dreaded "shudder" so I have to take it back in again to have that addressed.

Wish me luck! At this point I'm very tempted to just drive to the nearest Toyota dealership and trade down to a 4Runner.

Dropped the truck off on Monday morning and was given a new graphite performance edition as a loaner which was a pleasant surprise. Confirmed the shudder and are claiming its a maintenance issue. I will need to give them another $475. I'll bring up the TSB and warranty when I pick up.

Wow that sucks @tdowns12, I couldn't imagine all that shit happening to me. I've been waiting on an airbag for one of my customers for his Corvette, it's been about 2 months or so. Luckily I sourced one out of a acdelco warehouse and I still have yet the recive the one I ordered from GM.

Same issue were having on the Chevy Cruze 1.3L turbo, short demand on valve covers which we naw have. But the turbos are on a long backorder, have customers waiting for about 4-5 months or more.

I would mention it before you pick it up so the concern can be corrected. I find it hard to believe they don't realize the flush is covered by powertrain because this issue has been ongoing for years. Extended warranties won't pay for the flush or reprogram 90% of the time but I'm assuming you're still under powertrain based on the other repair this thread started with being covered.
