I was just out driving the Denali and noticed that the idle was higher than normal. It was hanging out around 750-800rpm, usually I feel like it's between 500-600.
Anything in particular that would cause this?
The truck was warm, nothing else out of the usual. Could it be a dirty throttle body?

Could it be a dirty throttle body?

That are the MAF might be a little dirty. I cleaned my MAF this weekend. I was about to do the throttle body but I ran out of time. MAF was slightly dirty and I have 43k. It seems to idle better (around 550) now. Get some MAF cleaner and also some Throttle Body cleaner at the parts store. They are different and you don't want to use one on the other.

Could be throttle body. My throttle body was sticking at idle speeds as high as 2,000 to 3,000 rpm. Caused quite a problem if it stuck while driving along and you go to stop or slow down from 50 mph. The dealership would only reprogram the throttle body position sensor, but it was still doing it. So I had to pay out of my own pocket to have the entire throttle body assembly totally replaced. Some guys here say you clean them up pretty good as a cure too.

Thanks guys.
It has about 94k on it so I will look into cleaning the MAF and throttle body. It seemed to go away the next time I started it, but I will definitely keep my eye on it. Next time I'm at the parts store pick up some cleaner and figure out how to clean it.

There are a lot of videos on you tube about it. Generally disconnect the MAF sensor and remove the air box and intake tube. Spray the MAF sensor with its specific cleaner. With the throttle body you take off the intake tube there, hold the plate open with a screwdriver and spray away. Stuff is toxic so wear some gloves and don't get it on you. Good idea to put a rag under the TB when you spray it.

Install everything and start it up. I'll probably do my TB next time my wife and I are home (we work different shifts).
