Which ones are better: the Acura tsx or the Lexus rx-afs? Really wondering which ones will fit in my sonar housing. The afs's seem to have a sharper cut off, other then that can't tell a significant difference between the two except price.

Here you go- I'm gonna do this and all you have to do is take the supports off and unscrew the 4 phillips- same size or pretty close enough to same size-
they look super clear. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0457654282&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Let me know how that works. I'm real skeptical about buying just lenses instead of the whole projector housing.

It's starts to get a bit subjective. The TSX's have one the wider beams around, which is one of the reasons I like them. Night driving with moose in the shadows on the sides of the roads is dangerous, and it gives me the best side to side visibility. Some say they don't throw down the road quite as far, though. Cut off is sharp, but without other modifications lacks much color.

The AFS have an excellent cutoff and lots of color. I haven't seen these in person to compare, though, so I can't say much other than what I've seen in pictures. Physh's look pretty nice, though. In general, the Lexus projectors are exceptional and they were one of the first to mass produce them for American cars.

But, when it comes down to it, they both do the job pretty well, along with several others. We know the AFS will fit in a Tahoe, too, thanks to Physh. ;)

Let me know how it goes if you try to bake them apart. Many aftermarket lights don't bake apart well due to cheap glues used in sealing them instead of silicone, but I really have no idea what Sonar does.

They are molded into the plastic with a metal ring. I was going to retro some projecotrs (w/o taking the covers off) but it ended up being a mess and wouldn't have looked too good so I scrapped the idea and just bought a new set w/o retroing. I would highly recommend that you continue with what you are doing and take the covers apart and set the projectors in through the front. But to answer your question you are going to have to grind the plastic around the projector lense until it is free.

and FWIW alot of the aftermarket ones arent even glued...alot of cheap chinese stuff is just heat or chemical sealed together where the plastics are melted and then they cure as one...kinda a pain...the OE rubberized urethane stuff is so much easier to pull apart...

Is there any benefit in using the Depo housings as opposed to stock Denali housings when doing a retrofit?
