usually it's the solenoid that craps out but the repair shops have mostly bit the dust...
there is one here in town you used to be able go drop it off and pick it up working a couple hours later or even just wait and they would whip it out, now it takes days and it cost's nearly as much as a new one. they stay alive doing farm equipment

I had that happen in my wife's old car.
worked fine, parked and then nothing.

In my S10, it started cranking really slow like I had a resistance or battery issue.

My Tahoe, I replaced proactively when I did the engine.

Preventative mx.
Changed ours out in 2018 when doing the rear main seal. Also changed the torque converter and alternator. They're only new once.
