Does bluetooth require minutes with Onstar?

We just got a Yukon SLT and were enjoying the bluetooth until it started telling us we were out of minutes...What the hell? Does the bluetooth in the vehicle require some sort of extra minutes?

Were you using the bt feature paired to your cellphone or were you using the free onstar call minutes that come with a new truck?

Although it uses the same mic/speakers BT is independent from the onstar call feature.

I thought we were using the bluetooth...we were using the button on the steering wheel.

Mmm I'm not sure, mine is an 09 and the BT feature wasn't integrated till the 10 year.

But to use BT you have to first pair your phone with the module, if you didn't do that chances are you were using onstar. Easy way to test it, just do what you did before, call your own cell phone, and look at the caller id.

But to answer your original question ... no you cannot run out of bluetooth minutes as there is no such thing.

Time for an owners' manual gander ... alternatively any gmc salesman should be able and willing to walk you through it.

I think we figured it out...my wife was not saying "bluetooth" after pressing the button her steering wheel, so I think it was using Onstar instead!

She is the one that actually drives it so when she got home, I went out got in it, and called her cell phone with no problem. She came out & I had her try a call and she got the message about being out of minutes, she tried it by saying bluetooth first and now it is working fine!
