I bought my Yukon almost 3 years ago. This was my first Tahoe/Yukon and I really liked it. Started having issues a few months ago with rough idle and what feels like the AFM not behaving as it should. For 2.5 years never had a rough idle nor did I ever "feel" the AFM switching back and forth between 4 and 8 cylinders. It was a joy to drive both in the city and on the highway. I guess when it gets beyond 100K miles, GM vehicles turn to crap?

I am so disappointed with all of the problems that have popped up in recent months. I changed the plugs, wires, cleaned TB/MAF and still rough idle. No way to diagnose a rough idle without the presence of a code? The only solution to a AFM issue I read is disable it. AFM was working fine before and now it's not. Something broke or failed and that something is not a replaceable part? I don't get it. I coast up to a red light at 15 MPH and AFM is shuddering in V4 mode. If it was meant to improve MPG on freeway, it shouldn't even be engaging at that speed.

I seem to be at a point where the list of problems keeps growing so much so I feel like I have to get rid of it. The cracked dashboard makes me pissed off every time I drive it. Smacking the dashboard to get the blower to turn on is getting old. Not looking forward to replacing the broken engine mount. The rough idle and AFM issue is aggravating. Even though I have had the U-joints replaced, driveshaft balanced, tires rotated and balanced, the ride is no longer smooth like it was.

Sorry for the venting, but I am over GM and the quality or lack thereof in which they build vehicles. I should change my screen name to "CrazyToBuyYukon".

Sounds like just average stuff what wrong, shlt happens that's life. I'll buy the truck off you for the low low and fix it dirt cheap and have one nice ride. Riff ride could be shocks? When have you replaced them last? Could be the tires you put on, what kind of tires...

Go buy a Ford lmao

hondas minivan has a nice fuel management and gets 30mpg on the highway. shocks are good too. there u go.

Having been loyal to BMW for 20 years has cost me more money than I care to admit. The laundry list of issues with an X5 that has the same mileage as your Yukon would three times as long. I wouldn't trash GM just yet. Sounds like your problems are relatively minor with 100K on the clock.

Dash crack sounds like the only problem that shouldn't happen but the truck is 2-9 years old so problems can happen at 100k+ miles. You cannot expect a vehicle to be 100% trouble free forever.

Current Issues:
  1. Cracked Dashboard This is an unfortunate problem but is hit or miss on these.
  2. Failing Blower Motor These can go bad over time but shouldn't be terribly expensive to fix.
  3. Broken Engine Mount These can go bad over time but shouldn't be terribly expensive to fix.
  4. Rough Idle This more than likely a sensor that is bad. Are you seeing any codes?
  5. AFM Shuddering This more than likely a sensor that is bad. Are you seeing any codes?
  6. Rough Ride As said before more than likely shocks as you stated they are original.

In a different thread you are noting the vibration problem started when put new tires on the vehicle so I would look towards tires.

Ever since I got new Bridgestone Duelers installed at Costco back in January, I have had a constant vibration on the Yukon. I have had them re-balanced/rotated, but the vibration is still there. The Yukon was so smooth cruising down the freeway with the old tires. Miss that smooth ride. Did I get a bad set of tires or is this a Bridgestone thing?

As far as #5 and #6, there are no codes. That is my frustration. I would replace a sensor if I knew which one(s).

That part would be frustrating. Have you taken it in to see if someone can pull up the code history? Unfortunately I am not very knowledgeable about AFM but if a tune would fix it I would go that route as you will get many more benefits.
