I don't see the problem, it's easy to cut the bracket and there's no Ill effects in doing so. Buy the HU you want and if it won't fit, cut the bracket or tear it out with your bare hands lol.

Just to make sure I'm reading this right. I can install a DD HU in my 02 Yukon without making any major changes to the dash? If it wont clear the factory mount I can just cut/remove it with no repercussions?

Yes, no major changes. You will need a dash bezel and radio cage from an 03-06. They come up on Ebay all the time. Here's a link to a thread where it's discussed. He made his own mount but if you buy the 03 cage the HU bolts right up to it. I used the 03 bash bezel and remounted the HVAC control. It looks good, not perfect but it's hard to tell. I also switched to the Esky HVAC controls. I think it came out good.

The stock Denali ones. Some people just swap the knobs but if you look, the graphics are different too. I replaced all 3 sets in mine with these, as well as the headlight switch so they all match.

I used a DD bracket kit from http://thedetailss.com/. Instead of buying a new 03-06 dash, just modify your existing one. The parts come with the kit. By keeping your existing dash, you don't lose function of your ashtray and power outlets. The kit comes with plastic pieces for the modification of the radio surround, glue, and plastic Bondo (3M brand).

Probably have to call them, as I don't see the exact kit on their website any longer.

Also, no need to remove bracket. I did have to cut some of the plastic behind the radio, but my Fein Multimaster made quick work of that.

FYI, I did not take great care in finishing the dash surrounding the radio, I was in a hurry, but you can see how it looks attached.

I actually just went through this as well. You can buy a pre made bezel as mention above which is a bit expensive but saves you the time and hassle. My only issue with it is I read it comes in black and you have to paint it yourself if you want it to match your car. I ended up just taking out the metal bracket by just unbolting it at the bottom and popping it out. Then I trimmed my bezel on the top half to accommodate the new size headunit. Ill post pics to night when I get home to give u a better Idea.

Here is the link to the kit

You can just get a used 03-06 OEM dash bezel already painted in your color and radio cage off EBay for cheaper. Mine was harder to find since it was a Denali.
