I'm looking for the lowest cost/easiest entry into a tune to improve the lazy shifting of our 2017 5.3 Tahoe. It must pass the WAF (wife acceptance factor) and I don't want to be removing/shipping ECU's around the country. This is her daily driver for work/store runs. Zero towing ever. The TC is newly replaced and the trans fluid changed several times by the dealer (as they were diagnosing the TC before finally replacing). The truck has 67k miles and is nearly in mint condition inside and out. I almost hate driving it as the shifting just sucks.... even the wife has commented on it.

I have a Range Tech plug in to prevent DFM/DOD from kicking in for whatever that's worth..

@NickTransmissions (or anyone else) any recommendations?

You've been given a solid recommendation to talk to the folks at Black Bear Performance. I've used them for both ECM (motor) and TCM (transmission) tunes with fantastic results.

I will caution you, though.... In general, 'lowest cost/easiest' does not usually produce the desired results.

Yeah understood.. I just meant telling the wife she can't drive for a week while I remove critical computers and send them out for programming wouldn't be an easy sell.... or if the new shifting patterns are tuned like we're drag racing and she develops shift-whiplash from her work commute wouldn't be good either.

Talk to Black Bear Performance. Their remote tune option (which I used) doesn't require disassembling anything or shipping any equipment somewhere. With the remote tune, you'll spend about 1/2 hour collecting data, and then you email it to Black Bear. They will analyze and prepare a tune to your desires, and send you back a new tune, (and your original tune in a programmable format, so you can reinstall it at any time) in an email. Installing the new tune will take less than 15 minutes, and you do it yourself. ==>> No loss of use of the truck. <<==
