Electric Fans, Worth it?

I actually have a high amp alternator. It's a 160 amp, so I hope it'll be ok.
Perfect. I've got the 145 amp and see no issues, but real test is when it's hot as shit with the AC running on blast.

I have Autocal so I just loaded the tune into my ECM myself. No crank relearn needed.
U make it sound so ez!!

Lol my efan upgrade took almost a 2 years to get right.
New ecm to fix constant fan on condition -old school crank relearn
2 sets of cooling fans- 1st set turn out to be good
2 ** alternators - 1st one sucked
2 wiring harnesses- 1st one melted due to 1st crappie alternator
80a relay upgrade to 2nd harness..

Justin at BB never gave up and we eventually got it fixed. Least I could do is buy an autocal from him.

I've been searching high and low for a factory set of electric fans with factory harness to get ready for my 6.0 swap. Wanted the tuner to turn on fans through the pcm, but he said he could only do that if the fans we're already in first. My question, is it really worth it? My 03 Hoe has a clutch fan. Does it really free up much hp? Is there really a big or noticeable difference? Is it worth spending the extra cash searching one down, or should I just run with the clutch fan? Any help and or comments are greatly appreciated.


Not much HP gain but when your sitting in traffic the electric fans work better and your a/c will work better in traffic.

Once you installed the fans did you have to get it tuned to turn the fans on? I bought a set of fans, now I have to get the harness from LS1 FANS also. Could you post up some pics of the install. Was it a direct fit once you pulled the clutch fan out? How hard was it to get the old fan out? Tia.

I was thinking please correct me if I'm wrong. If i were too get say an ecu/pcm from an 05-06 tahoe, suburban, silverado z71 with flex fuel (because mine has it). do the key on 10 minutes off three times trick. Would i then be an be to run the 2 pins from ecu to trigger the fans as an oem solution. Besides my vin not matching on the pcm. will i have any other drawbacks?.

Thinking of this as the most cost effective way to add fans.pcms on ebay ~$50
Please let me know if I'm making sense to anyone

You would probably get trouble codes depending on your generation truck and build sheet, plus you would never pass inspection. Probably easier to send your pcm off to have the pins activated.

A local shop with a Tech 2 or similar could activate the pins also. I believe the Snap-On Solus can do it.
