Empty too early?

I know my yukon has a 26 gallon tank, but why does the fuel light come on with 5 or 6 gallons left? Is this normal? It seems like 6 gallons left is definitely not empty. Do i have a bad guage or something?

I think this is normal it is giving you enough warning and enough gas to find a gas station.

Mine goes on when the range drops below 30 miles. Of course, at that point, there is really more gas than the computer thinks there is...

Does it keep showing the range? When mine dings and the light comes on, the range changes from a # to LOW.

My 03 hoe does the same thing around 30-40 range left. But I have about 1 gal or so left before im on fumes. My 05 Denali doesnt have the range feature.

My truck is empty before it gets down to "1/4" on the gauge. My buddy has a 2003 tahoe that is the same exact way.
