yukon had all the exhaust manifold bolts replaced today, as well as a new exhaust put on. Only drove about 5 mile home from the shop, but seems to be a slight tick coming from both exhaust pipes. Is that just because everything is new? There shouldn't be a leak.

If you had work done at a shop and are not satisfied with the work you should always take it back to the shop. Preferably immediately so they can atleast make a quick check to make sure they didnt miss something(they are human mistakes happen). If they try to give you a bs line go to a different shop for diagnosis and take that diagnosis back to the original shop and raise hell.

They guy that did the work is a cool dude and backs up his work. After listening to it more, it's sounds more like a miss. Did a full tune up not long ago so it's not a miss. Sounds like it's coming from behind the engine where the headers bolt up to the exhaust. Somethings not lined up correctly so it's making a miss noise. Gonna stop in tomorrow and have him check it out

Did he use the factory y pipe flange connector? Or by new exhaust did he replace the y pipe? Sometimes the flange connection on the factory y pipe wont be enough to pull the exhaust to the manifold tight enough if its the old original one. If it is have him cut off the original and use an aftermarket flange connector.

I'd guess just left it with the original. yukon has true duals, about 1.5-2years ago I had him replace the stock muffler w a Flowmaster 50 suv series. Had him change it out for 2 super 10s instead. So all he did was the manifold bolts/gasket kit and re-run from muffler back. I'll mention the flange connectors when I stop in tomorrow.

The stock flange clamp butts right against the manifold when tightened over time it wears out and doesnt quite seal up. Something to check very simple to replace with an aftermarket one.

Ok, stopped in today and he said it sounds like a miss, put a scanner on, I don't have any codes but he was able to do a live read of each cylinder and 2 and 6 have a few misses. Odd that it's not throwing a code, and odd that I drove 8 hrs this past weekend from Ohio to Indiana and back, with no performance issues or indication of a miss other than the exhaust sound. I have a lifetime warranty on the wires, which I changed in January. I picked up some new wires today and I'm going to try switching them out to see if that could be my issue. If that doesn't work, he said bring it back in and he will gladly go over all the joints to check for a leak or something along those lines.

A few occasional misses are not uncommon and generally never noticed by the avg person. Also not all causes of a miss will be picked up by the ecm. A constant power robbing miss would easily noticed without the use of a scanner and possibly even vibrate the truck.

Ok update: I replaced all the wires and still got the same sound. Was in the shop today and the guy combed through everything and didn't find any leaks. The sound comes out from both sides. (True duals) I put a video on YouTube so you can hear what it sounds like. I find it hard to believe that this is how Super 10s sound. :(. Really confused and want to fix this.
