On my 2015 Tahoe LT 4x4, production date December 2014, my manual says to change the oil at 3,000 miles the first time. The dealer says they won't change it until 6,000-7,000 miles. Anyone know what's correct or what you've done?

I agree with the manual. Sounds to me like there is some miscommunication going on between you and the dealer. I do not see why they would not follow the manual. Why don't you share with us why they said they wouldn't follow the manual's suggested mileage? The first at 3k and then as long as use quality oil and filter then every 5k after, IMO. Unless you start to use synthetic. Is there synthetic in the engine now?

You need to make them change it by the manual. Contact GM customer service if they decline.

Just another example why free oil changes are useless.

My Denali is every 5K per the dealer (I've had one)... Using full synthetic.

I asked my dealer this same question yesterday, he said to change oil when the oil life gets down to 20%.

What page/section is that on the manual? I'm looking through the manual and I can't find it. I need some ammo before i call the dealer. Otherwise I'm going to change it myself.

It was an early manual for vehicles with petroleum based oil, or if the oil life monitor was accidentally reset. Turns out mine, built in 12/1014, has synthetic oil, as the reason they suggested to wait until 6,000-7,000 miles.

I asked the same question when I got started with the '15 and I came to the conclusion every 5K would be easy for me to keep track of and I get a tire rotation at the same time. I use the Dexos oil that they recommend.
