Hi Fless.....we were talking about this , so thought I would look for you and see what you thought...............
my scanner gives a MAF if .89 lb/min.....I figured that is 6.73 g/s.
My engine is a 5.3. What do you think ?

It's probably okay as long as that's at hot idle and not above 700 or so in rpms. A more accurate reading would be directly in g/sec if you can change your scanner settings to display that way. Has it been cleaned with MAF cleaner?

Also check the fuel trims to see if they're within reason: adding each bank's long term trim to the short term trim, -5 to +5% is great, -10 to +10 is borderline and might call for some further checking, but even that's not awful.

Yep. Hot idle. I don't think I can change to g/sec on scanner, but will check again.
Have to hook up again to get fuel trims.....on adding trims.....+7 + -5 = 2 or just add the numbers....as in +7 + -5 = 12 ?????????? which way to do it..... thanks Fless. I tried the @Fless but couldn't figure out where to put it...ha ha Thanks

Put a different throttle body on and it seems to get rid of most of the surging at idle. But need to run more to see. ( both were clean)

Yes, +7 + -5 = 2

See if your scanner readings settings can change to metric, at least for the MAF reading. You can always switch it back.
