Flex Fuel

Anyone ever run flex fuel through your vehicle? I've found a few stations near me that sell the stuff and it's fairly cheap 3.01. Should i expect to have half power of gas or what?

I posted the same question when I first got my truck seems like everyone is in agreement that gas is garbage but I personally never used it

I just found a wral news clip saying that it take twice the amount of e85 than gas to travel the same distance

E85 has ~ 33% less energy content than regular gas, expect about the same return in mileage

Therefore, the price should be 30 percent less, as well.

Based on that logic, (and I paid $3.39/gallon for unleaded yesterday), the E85 should be around $2.37/gallon. The local E-85 station here is getting $3.10/gallon for it. No thanks.

As everyone has said, it ends up being more expensive to run e85 due to the significantly reduced amount of mileage you get out of each tank.

Yeah I tried it when I first got the truck in 2007 and logged mileage. I got 11.24 mpgs (vs ~17 mpg city stock) and it was only a $1 cheaper so it was not worth it $/mile.

On a side note, I have been trying non-ethanol fuel and gained from 2 to 3 mpgs.

I run it, but as stated, it gets worse MPGs.

I also run it and have zero problems. On my F150 I can run it down to 30 cents cheaper than regular fuel and break even. Anything after that is saving me money. E85 has higher octane so you get more HP. Had E30 in the Yukon so far and ran a tank of E85 as well and only got 11.5 mpg so It will probably not pay off with the Yukon.
It burns way cleaner. E85 in my pickup and my chrome tip stays clean. Regular fuel turns my chrome tip black with soot.
