Magnaflow over Flowmaster. I HATE the flowmasters on my 6.0. And I hated the one on my 2 door. I can't wait to get my XR-1's for my truck to replace the flowcrappers

X2. Was a toss up between the quieter Pro XS and The XR-1. Think the XS is too tame for me. Be sure to post up a vid when you get it on

Magnaflow has less drone. The 22" is quiet.
Flowmaster's chambered series are horrible flowing mufflers by the way. The 50 series is the best then it's down hill.
Outlaws are straight through. Dynomax bullets are cheap and loud.

I ran Flowmasters on my Vette for 3 or 4 years. Sounded OK, but had a droning sound at highway speeds. After a couple of the baffle welds rusted out it sounded like i was dragging a lawn chair around. Replaced with Magnaflows. Liked them so much that I put a Magnaflow cat-back on my Suburban. Three inch pipes from both cats to the muffler and a four inch from the muffler back. Sounds great, and worth the money. Thinking of picking one up for my S-10.

Stay AWAY from flowmaster! They get thier unique sound by chambered exhaust therefore a few less ponies. Get magnaflow or if you want performance get the Dynomax Cross Over X Muffler. Has an X pipe built into it :)

Let's back up and determine what is wanted... performance or sound?
  • Magnaflow has better flow rates than Flowmaster.
How loud/quiet are you trying to be?
  • Magnaflow doesn't drone nearly as bad as Flowmaster - conversations can be held at highway speed.
  • Flowmaster is a chambered muffler and definitely has a distinctive sound, ranging from mildly loud to obnoxiously loud.
  • Magnaflow is throaty, but typically a bit milder in tone than Flowmaster.

I have a slowmaster 50 series on my Yukon, and I can't wait to get rid of it. The drone at any speed is horrendous, my ears hurt after my 2500 mile trip.

When I can, I'm going true dual with 20" FLo-Pro's, had them on my '81 K5 and loved the way they sound. Nice throaty rumble, but loud when I got in the throttle, and no inside drone whatsoever.
