Installed a new pump from NAPA about three months ago. About a month ago I noticed that when I turn the key on for the first start of the day, I dont hear the pump run as I used to, and the start takes longer than normal. After it starts it runs fine. Next starts during the day are normal, though I still dont hear the pump run.

Thx for any help

Sounds like either a shorted relay, or possibly the pump's on its way out again..

Keyword is NAPA your pump is doing exactly what mine was doing before i replaced it
go to amazon.com and order a new pump they sell the factory replacement one for like 70 bucks VS everywhere else wanted like 3-400 bucks just for the pump
i ordered the Prime Choice Auto Parts FPKM141 New Fuel Pump Module Assembly from amazon for 52.88 just under a year ago and it starts on the first turn of the key everytime tip only buy oil filters from napa dont buy anything else i can find performance and replacement parts on amazon cheaper and its the same manufacterers everyone else carrys

as soon as i noticed the huge selection of automotive parts and stuff amazon
carrys and how much cheaper i find parts i dont even bother going to orielys or autozone anyof those places
they also carry all the performance stuff aswell flowmaster exhaust kits shit like that

Personally, I would recommend an oe part. I've heard many others go aftermarket parts and have them fail shortly after, though this may not always be the case. When I replaced mine with a $350 delphi, I didn't hear it either, unlike my old one that always made a high pitch whine. When you say it takes longer than normal to start, how much longer?

Delco/delphi or Denso...only pumps worth your money.

Did you change your fuel filter? Sounds like you may have a priming problem & a clogged filter won't help.

The new pump is a Delphi because of the good things I read about them. Fuel filter replaced as well.

Correction, pump was purchased at Carquest, not NAPA.
