Fuel pump question

Hello guys,

Getting a fuel smell ONLY when full tank. Thought I would see fuel stained residue around the top but all I see is rust.

I have a new seal that I was planning to install but unsure if that's really my issue.

Would you suggest doing it anyway or ????

Pump is 6yrs old and 40k miles ago.

Its A Delphi FG0324 unit.

It could be the carbon canister gone bad or the valve by it. Take a look at the hoses as well. They are all located above the rear end.

Ok. So it would likely be leaking or show residue, correct? Unfamiliar with the unit.

Also..so how does a full tank affect that canister? Does fuel rise that high when full tank?

The fuel tank has a hose that runs to the carbon canister, some times that hose dry rots. When you fill up the tank the fumes are pushed out to the canister thats why you smell it really bad on a full tank. Fill the tank up and crawl under the truck and look to fuel vapors.

I looked at evap hoses fwiw and there was a hose from tank to evap that wasn't completely connected. Hoping that was it. Messed with it and it clicked as if it was only partially on. Seems i would have got a SES but I dont.

It's near drivetrain and i did have some work done in that area some time ago and maybe that is why. Just grasping at straws.

at least I know more what to look for. I'll fill up in a couple days and see what happens.
