Damn, that was pretty bad huh? Im hoping that since we don't use salt up here mine is ok. I wonder if I can use a mirror and light to inspect it.

You might be able to see it. The problem is the top of the tank. Water just sits in that bowl, you know, where the only metal is.... Duh. I coated the new one with bedliner.

As @swathdiver said, the lines on the head of the pump like to rust out.

This causes loss of pressure and then some long starts.

As you can see, there's a valley on top. If it's leaking, it will find its way down the passenger side.

Dang that's hard to get at but this is the best I could get but no fuel marks on the side of the tank as if it where leaking. What you think?

Didnt see any sign of fuel. What would the next step be? EVAP lines?

Mechanical pressure gauge on the rail if it were me. You can see if it primes and holds or if it bleeds off to quick. Do you know for sure when it's not gonna start? If so, next time, instead of cranking it, just turn the key to on for a few seconds a couple of times in a row first, i.e., cycle the pump a couple times. Then try to start it.
