How are you going to take out the black box before the police show up?
un it's your property that means they tow it back to your house it's actually illegal from them to take it with out a warrant i.e unlawful search..


but most likely you will be dead from a 100+ mph crash anyways so it will not matter...

this is why the hid tiger woods crash data he more then likely was going 100-110MPH and fell asleep at the wheel.. once you get above 80-90mph you get a lot of understeer this is what was seen at the crash site...(because your car is not a race car)

Wrong. The police call a flatbed truck your truck gets hauled away to a impound yard and you go to jail. You don't decide anything the police make all the decisions not you. Gee how do I know this because it happened to me.

112 MPH is nothing. I remember going well over 120 in a high top suburban ambulance with a 454 back in the 80's. The diesels these days can't touch the record times to area hospitals set by that V8 beast :) LOL


Awe yes, I missed those day's also. It was a nice cruise down I-75 responding to calls

Onstar and speed limiters.... very similar to the abomination some local Police Departments had in the early 90's, called "Sgt in the trunk". It recorded seat pressure (to know when an officer was out of the vehicle), speeds, brake pressures and acceleration. It was the worst concept for aggressive patrol driving, in and out of the car hundreds of times a shift, heavy acceleration and threshold braking for aggressive patrol tactics and such.. The program was flawed when compared to actual events and eventually phased out.
Having a 112 fuel shut off one of those things I just never considered... along the lines of pushing my Yukon to 112, lol.

Correct, depending on the circumstances and state (laws do vary) if you're injured or incapacitated, the vehicle is towed/stored (at your expense), if you're in custody the vehicle is also stored, or possibly impounded (there is a difference) also at your expense. California has the "30 day law", meaning if you're caught driving on suspended license, your vehicle is impounded for 30 days. The idea behind was to make it so expensive to get a vehicle out, no one would drive suspended, it didn't work. Most just went back to the Auctions, bought another car and drove those. Lastly, if it's a fatal collision (which at speeds over 80-90, the odds of it are pretty high, like 90%), your vehicle is also impounded for evidence and invest. Evidence and invest may also apply to DUI, and other conditions (such as illegal speed competitions). The variations to this, (again, laws are different from state to state) but if you're involved in a relatively minor collision, (no injuries) and your vehicle is disabled, you may be able to call your own tow (like Auto Club, or something) and have your vehicle towed to your residence, body shop etc. If the vehicle is a traffic hazard, the police may not give you the option, but I have helped a few push their car out of the traffic lanes so I didn't have to tow/store it, I've also had dispatch call a private tow for someone. It all depends on the officer, agency, circumstances and state.
Collisions happen, but they're not usually "accidents", they're usually caused by mitigating factors, such as lack of attention, inebriation, unsafe speed, failure to stop, or failure to yield to oncoming traffic, (turning, which was the #1 cause of collisions in California years ago, I don't know if it still is) and other poor decisions. Of course, sometimes, it's genuinely a true "Accident", like a tree branch falling, or brake fluid spread across the white lines, or something no one has control over.
It's pretty crazy what you learn as a traffic investigator and spend years breaking down collisions and talking to some folks at conventions and conferences put on by NHTSA.

Had my Denali to 130 so far and it was still pulling hard. When it shifted at 125 I was surprised at how hard it pulled. With the few mods I've done so far it should hit 150 pretty easy. Of course I have upgraded the brakes significantly and she stops fast at 130. I do have a device plugged in to my ODBII port that interferes with Onstar so no issues there.

I wouldn't be pushing past 100MPH on a consistent basis until you replace the driveshaft.

I've been researching supporting mods for my Burb cause I am doing a supercharger install. I'd rather be over built than under so I have been combing the web and calling shops for advice. I've done it myself more than once but now I'm holding back.

Replacing the driveshaft has come up more times than not. If you read on the Silverado forums, people have blown up their driveshafts over 100MPH. Its a weak spot with these trucks (Tahoe, Burb Yukon Esky, and all pickups). I did notice myself that the truck starts to vibrate a bit more at 100+ but I didn't think anything of it until I started reading.

I'm ordering a replacement now from a company called http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/ in Texas. Their name came up from 2 different shops I called (CarTEK & East Coast Supercharging - both NJ)

Is the weakness in the driveshaft of in the U joints?
