I'm going to say 6+ hrs on a 220-volt line. We all know EV's aren't mature enough for road tripping yet. But they are mature enough for a 2nd car for a family that has a local routine every week. And there are many in that boat...
I could see buying one in 2-3 years as they get more perfected, it would fit our local lifestyle perfectly. Still want the DMax for road trips though. Not a better vehicle out there to do 600+ miles a day in...

I don't understand why the hybrid didn't stick around longer, it seemed to make sense. The car could run off battery power or be powered by a small engine. Locomotives have used the diesel engine to power a generator for electric drive for a long time.

Not “green” enough.

I got premium for my Audi s8 this morning for $4.39/gal (40 cents off with grocery discount) so things haven’t got too crazy yet

I'd think it would be easy picking up a cancelled Denali 6.2 about now actually ran into one while calling about another model. Bad omen or curious accident?

I am really unsure why people are freaking out over gas prices. These suv's are not little vehicles by any means. Gas prices wont stay at this level forever. Are the diesel people going to start freaking out because at least in my area and Im sure elsewhere is 60 cents higher (5.19 gallon) than premium. Diesel will go much higher before it is over. As firsttimetahoe above said so well and many others, if you are buying an $80000 vehicle, gas is probably not much of a worry. Maybe for those who are having issue with prices should have bought a prius or something similar instead. Here they are selling tahoes at 3000 over invoice for lot vehicles, if you order one, msrp. They are selling the tahoes as they come off the truck. Just be glad you dont own a big RV right now, those are the people I feel for. Just my worthless 2 cents worth.

Food for thought.......

Lets say you need to go 800 miles in a day, family emergency... 35 degree weather....

400 mile range in our big hulks give or take... 300 mile range in electric probably less with cold weather... Gas stop and bathroom is 15 minutes tops unless its a Buccees here in Texas. So recharge electric at supercharger about 1hr if I am right? 2 extra hours for charging can mean life or death, or major issues or not seeing a loved one before passing etc.

Electric is only good for in town, maybe 200 mile trips for weekend away bs... That's it... and you have to be tethered to electricity... If yall heard our power grid doesn't have the ability to take all this on. Hell California asked residents not to charge cars due to grid issues multiple times...

The infrastructure isn't there for EV and I honestly haven't seen any vast improvement's on fixing in our state in regards to high demand and buffer KWH... And you think power generation is greener than ICE? Lets look at the wind turbine effects on the environment? Killing birds, multiple unit failures causing meltdowns, blades that cannot be recycled and are buried in landfills? Solar isn't the fix either... We have the technology to move forward, the knowledge to do better, nuclear power can be done clean and with less impact, but is plagued with its own issues also.. Economics drive things and supply and demand rule...

Oil companies have killed off the EV surges through time, BUT the feasibility and the charging is the issue that it has always been plagued with even back to the 1910 era when the first EV were on the market... This is a 100 year old battle, yes technology has increased but there are still places in this world that EV is about the dumbest choice to take there and why the ICE has taken such strong hold and moves the world.

Battery fires that re ignite after being put out is a huge safety concern also...

The biggest pollution issues are Cargo ships and planes... Yet folks thing going "green" helps the environment. And buying imports really has no effect on anything...

So in closing I will say this. We have the oil supplies here in the US to not be swayed by the global market, yet we do allow the sway all the time. Greed, conflicts, and bad choices are why we are where we are today. Yes it sucks folks, but after watching the US major players in political games buy EV companies stocks a year ago. I knew this was coming, and how better to try to force people into an agenda than to raise the price of a commodity to force them to buy something they hold stock in.
If you need to go 800 miles in a day for a family emergency that's a 10-11 hour drive assuming you make '0' stops, EV or not I'm pretty sure a plane is your fastest path.
