Gas prices making anyone reconsider?

The curves for gas and diesel are moving in opposite direction, in NC I see small drop in Regular fuel but increases in diesel. Many stations in NC are $5.35 for diesel and $3.89 for Regular and $4.40 for Premium.
... and I am considering cheapest diesel Tahoe only because of the comfortable seats that it offers, my 2018 Yukon and 2020 Tahoe were the most comfortable on 15+ hour trips ever. I also compared seats to Telluride, Atlas, Palisade, Ascent. Only Telluride was somewhat close. Ford Expedition seats were very close to Tahoe but gas mileage on Ford was no comparison to Diesel 3.0.

When I bought my 2008 Tahoe (new) gas was just about what it is now.
The difference is that I ordered my Z71 and paid $10k under invoice.
Still driving it and have no aspirations to let it go before it falls apart.

Found an answer to my own question...



An article I read yesterday was saying those in the know are predicting diesel to be over $6/gal in most places by summer. Fuel prices always rise in the summer so this seems logical. It’s already $5.50 range lots of places I see locally.

Even with these prices if I were in the market for one of these vehicles today the price of fuel would not sway me one way or the other. As others have said if you can afford to spent $70k or more on a rig you should damn well be able to afford fuel for it

Any idea why that is (fuel prices there diverging)?

Built a little tool to analyze cost per mile to operate, based on engine, and using the "Combined" EPA rating, YMMV
Note, the more expensive diesel gets, the better off you are with that engine.
I tried to figure out how to post this actual spreadsheet tool so everyone could adjust to their specific situation, but apparently can't share Excel files on the forum.

Here is a view for prices from my geography with Prem at a $0.60 higher price than regular, and Diesel a $0.90 higher price than regular.:

And here is a view with Premium at $0.60 above regular, and diesel at $1.50 above regular.

Cool tool, but does it adjust for the higher price of the Diesel engine?
I was 100% sold on the baby duramax until the latest price spike, now I'll stick with the 5.3.
Best all around engine, cheapest operating costs, should go 200k without issue.
3.0 requires wet belt oil pump replacement at 150k, at least $1200 repair.

Diesel around me here in SoCal has reached $6.50 in some areas near me. Here is a comparison.

NO, purely fuel cost per mile.
Figured everyone else could adjust for total cost of ownership per mile on their own...

$4.15 for regular and $6.19 (!) for diesel here today Buffalo NY
