That page said that I need 4.27 gears for my 33"s to get back to stock gearing. Does that sound correct? But when I did the quick calculation (.12*33) it came up with a 3.96 gears, which I guess puts it between fuel economy and factory ratio. I'm pretty sure that I have 3.73's in there now (from the code)

Those calcs are for 1:1 manual. Don't forget your overdrive if you are looking at highways speeds.

I'm running 35's with 456's and their good..456's are good for road and off road(wink wink) not the greatest gas but maybe someday u might wanna go bigger those 456 will come in handy my 2cent..

x2 456 not good on gas but great off road, thats what i have and 38s,eaton locker in rear

I am looking into the 4.10 for better fuel economy and if I need offroad
performance I will put it in 4Low. It is not like my grocery getter will be
doing any rock crawling or mudbogging either for that matter.

Has anyone ever thought about a two speed rear ? A fella could have beauty of both worlds.
1) 2wd place rear in High gear for gas mileage let's say 3.73
2) 4wd place rear in equal ratio as front (Low gear) 4.88 or 4.56

Is there even a small 2spd rear out there that could do this trick ?

Read into underdrives, they go between the transmission and transfercase and do something similar. When dissenganged it is 1:1 so it is factory gearing but when engaged it switches to another gear ratio like 2:1 for better off road gearing.

Due to the fact of all that has to happen in a rear end a small two speed rear end wouldnt be feasible and still have any sort of strength.
