I have the factory 4L60E, stock 3:23 GU5 code. I am only 2wd so that wont be an issue. How accurate is that chart? Ive seen those everywhere lol.

Dang.... 3.23s you will notice a pretty big difference with some 3.73s but your truck is begging for some 4.10s. RPMs should be around the 2300 range at 65mph.

But if you are going to go boost do 3.73s.

Definitely not accurate because I run 32's with factory 3.73 at 65 I'm right at 2k rpms. However like everyone else said 4.10 minimum if your not gonna DD it. Even then I think with 4.10 I would be around 23-2400 at 65 which isn't terrible... Unless your on a road trip lol

My 01 Yukon-XL 4X4 has Factory 4:11 it turns 2250 at 70 MPH

I also have the 5.3 in it.

It is my DD I am getting 15.67 MPG it also part time 4X4.

I feel it good for cruising not enough motor for towing I could put 4:56 then again I think it be turning around 2500 at 70 MPH not good for a DD good for weekend car fun car it should work fine or just for towing.

If you planning to go with a 4L80E trans go with the 4:56 do to the higher first gear it the trans 3:07 in the 4L60E 2:67 I think in the 4L80E and the over drive in the 60E .70 compare to the 80E is .65.

If you going to tow even think about 4:88's with the 4L80 trans.

And also figure in you're tire size before what gears you're going to buy taller tire you need deeper gear's to make up for the over all increase in the tire OD plus the speedo will be off.

If you go to a smaller OD tire it will act like you put deeper gears like 4:11 or 4:56 you're speedo might say you're doing 70 MPH but you only doing 65 MPH once again you need to get a tuner to fix this take to a shop to re-flash the computer or have a custom tune done.

If you planning to be turning 3000 -3200 RPM'S during normal driving you are you building a new motor for this with a BIG cam set up long runner heads forge crank big injectors ect. you going to need a trans that will hold up with this and a high Stall convertor.

3000-3200 that's a lot rev's for a street car.

I am looking to get some rear end gears for my tahoe before I do the cam that I want. Where are you guys ordering your gears? Im torn between 3:73 and 3:90. I plan to run about 3000-3200 eventually.

I have a 2006 Tahoe LT and the guy at Summit Racing is telling me that with my rear ABS, the gears they sell wont work?? Where can I order the gears and installation kit?

FYI - That chart posted above is for 1:1 transmission final drives (no overdrive). That does not apply to any overdriven transmission, like the 4L60e, 4L80e etc..

I used the "Transmission Ratio RPM" calculator link below quite a bit when I picked a gear ratio for the T56 swap. You'll need to know your exact tire height, transmissions final drive ratio, overdrives will be 0.XX. I'd say it's accurate to within 50-100rpm.

What are some good BRAND gears to go with? I see Yukon gears being praised a lot but theyre so expensive compared to others. I have found a set of USA Standard Gear 4:11's for $130 shipped.... These any good? Loud? Etc

I installed the USA gears this summer and I have no issues with them. The setup is more important than the brand. Over the years, I've installed cheap gears and the more expensive ones and it all comes down to proper setup.

This will give you an idea what rpm you`ll be turning on the highway at 65 mph.

Seriously 4.10's guys in a half ton tahoe wich doesnt have the towing capacity in the first place to warrant installing a 4.10 and not to mention yer fuel eco goes down the tubes
when i came back from IRAQ i bought a brand new 2008 ford ranger FX4 fully loaded
wich happened to have 4.10 gear ratios and didnt realize till later but with a 4 liter v6 i was getting 16 to 18 MPG holy **** it was roughly the same MPG a 4x4 5.4 triton f-150 got so yeah go ahead put on that 4.10 youll be kicken yerself later filling up the gas tank 3 times a week
