Tomorrow I'll be getting my heads and putting them on [emoji16][emoji16] I really need the correct torque sequence and values for the heads and intake, maybe a diagram? Mr Sunlit can you help? I've seen stuff about it on the web but frankly I trust you more...

Thanks sunlit! Unfortunately the other head is cracked in two places, so I need two heads instead of one. So does anyone have any suppliers that are cheap on their prices? They don't need to be new, they can be remanufactured just need some help please!

Also, the casting number for my heads are 12558062, what other casting numbers will work on my motor? Found a guy on Craig's that has a set of used ones that came off a 99, will those fit?

You can interchange '062 heads and '906 heads. They're the "vortec" castings, and while they do have subtle differences, you can run them.

Valve adjustment or lifter preload adjustment is the tricky part. I personally do not care for the method posted above. The EO/IC method through the firing order is the most straightforward to me. YMMV. If you do it wrong, you will have to take it apart and do it again, and again, until it is right. You may find that 1 full turn is a bit much. The point is to center the plunger in its "stroke" inside the lifter.

Here's a video which may help regardless of how you choose to do it.

Thanks for the info! By the way should or can I drill a larger hole in the gaskets where the water jackets are?

i personally just got two new gm head assemblies from jegs 5+ years back better sets and remans might actually cost more in local stores. btw what head gasket number is that? fel-pro make a few but there is one that is better then the one you pictured. use the ones pictured here if you can and do not drill out the holes. on-purpose design.

The gasket set is the 7733pt2. Anyway heads and intake are on and torqued found some remans for $350. They'll suit my needs for now, I plan on getting a full long block and a new tranny sometime next year
