Okay, so far so good. The coolant smell has dissipated, and the coolant level is stable.

I did notice that if I overfill the expansion tank, excess coolant is pushed through a hose to drip beside the FR wheel well.

That’s probably what happened, you put too much in so it came out the overflow which caused the air being drawn from outside ( which is in front of the windshield where the inlet vent is) to smell like coolant. Glad it settled down.
