My 99 tahoe is dead, and after research i figured out it s the crankshaft position sensor. Although i cant figure out how to put the new 1 in. it litterally seems too big to fit, it is the right part # as i referenced it with other parts stores and online.

Is there another part i have to take out in the location, I know there is some clear plastic in there but it doesnt even go in far enough to hit that or to bolt it in. Help would be greatly appreciated!

The bottom of the timing cover, right?

Is it bigger when you compare it to the old one?

I changed mine in the parking lot at advance auto in 5 minutes.

just got in from working on her. That is the part i got and it did break inside. I cranked it over and still no start. A couple of cyclinders would hit and white smoke would come out of the throttle body. It is getting fuel so its something electrical im thinking. Could be camshaft position sensor or the coil i dont know?
the battery is dead now from tryign the last 2 days of cranking so its on the charger.

You have to reset the sensor or it won't know you put the new CPS in. Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.
