Gary,

Have your intake gaskets ever been changed? I'm thinking you have a vacuum leak somewhere. How far are you from Stockton? Running a scan on the engine with a Tech-2 would sure help figure this out.

there has been no major work done on the engine.
I’m in Auburn.

Would the OBD II be able to detect that even without an error code?
you can view the live data via the obd port, the system would not report a low fuel pressure error if it didn't know it was happening, it just makes corrections to keep the engine running until it can't anymore. you could plug a scanner/reader in and log the fuel pressure readings, you could also plug right into the port on the fuel rail with a fuel pressure tester

OK, what OBD II reader would you recommend?

Well, I went out and bought my own Tech-2. They make little wireless or Bluetooth code readers that plug into your adapter and talk to your phone through a free or cheap app. These kinds can only deal with engine codes but the Tech-2 can see EVERYTHING and runs tests on just about everything.

Thanks. I’ll see if Amazon has one.
