Help some Tahoe owners out. Good info!!

Hey guys. Just wanna add some info. Some of u guys may know I just wanna add to help some ppl. 2 different issues. One I had some led taillights that worked great. Wanted different set. Put new set in an my cruise stopped working. So I bought some 25w 10ohm resistors. All u do is screw them to the metal behind taillight. Tap the middle bulb for the brake light. Tap into the black on the end an the blue on the other end. An cruise works again. Second thing. I changed all my suspension myself. When I got to pitman arm I couldn’t get it off. Had a puller to but u can’t get it flush without taking gear box off. I didn’t wanna do that. Or even take it lose. I tried beating on it. Heating it. Used air hammer an could not get it to budge. Even loosened gear box which I Did not wanna do. Still couldn’t get it. Tried for 2 days. Even cut it. So I bought this low profile puller off Amazon. I sware 10 min I had it off an new one on. Didn’t have to loosen gear box or nothing. Wish I’d of knew bout this tool sooner so I’m throwing it out here.

Here's a helpful tip. There are videos on the tube that show you how to do this. I've done it twice and man is it easy!

Agreed. That now separate piece of metal that's now secured into place with screws and/or brackets will act differently if in an accident in that area of the vehicle.

Could possibly rip loose, cut or poke up through the carpet, and injure someone sitting near it.

The pitman arm wasn’t very hard, I just slightly loosened and moved the steering box. Easy. And Removing the tank to do it correctly is not hard either. I don’t have a lift either.

Ha ha. Doubt It. A little square of 1/16" sheet metal isn't going to make any difference if you get t-*****. It would take a lot to "crumple" and if so, it's a total loss anyway.

It may or may not, that's why I said it's a possibility, but for someone who may have kids that ride back there regularly, why take that chance just because you don't want to correctly drop the tank to change out a fuel pump that may go out every 10 years or so (150-200k miles).

Now if your rig is just used for a special purpose like off roading and not as a daily commuter/kid hauling/grocery getting/trip taking rig, then it probably won't matter

I have said the same thing in a few posts about this. Crumple zones are built in all over the rig. Top, bottom, front, back and sides. Kids in the back, T-Bone happens and pushes sideways and the screws/rivets break because the area is definitely weaker and all of a sudden that piece that is attached flips up at an angle and is now a razor blade moving sideways or twisting and something really bad happens that MAYBE could have been avoided by just never cutting that hole there. I would and will NEVER be involved with cutting that access hole.

I also lifted my back seat out an was about to cut a hole in my floor but decided against it. Yes it would be awesome to have a door there. I don’t know why they don’t design them like that. It’s kinda crazy. But I ended up dropping the tank. With no lift an I’m on a 4/6 drop. So it wasn’t easy but it wasn’t that bad. An the thing that sucks is the first pump I put in had a faulty check valve. So I had to do the job twice lol. But the pitman arm puller is awesome.
