Yes I was watching a video of a guy that was saying the foam insulators are to keep water from entering the knock sensor holes. He recommended that you take the rear insulator out completely because it tends to keep water instead of prevent it.

I think it’s supposed to channel water away from the knock sensors but it doesn’t do that very well. The rear one does a great job of trapping dirt and debris under the manifold. :hmm:
Eohat, Is there another name for the valley cover gasket? Im assuming that its the gasket under the plate that holds the knock sensors but I'm having a hard time finding the gasket when I search for valley cover gasket. Thanks!

F you don't have a Chiltons or something similar, you could Google torque specs and sequence.
I found the specs for the intake manifold. Do the valley cover bolts need to be torqued to a specific pound? I tried to find info on it and didn't come up with anything.

The intake manifold is 44 in-lb on the first pass and 89 in-lb on the second pass in sequence.

I've never done one on our trucks before, but I'd think there would be a specific torque along with sequence too.

Yes, there’s a torque spec for the engine valley cover bolts.

I couldn’t find the torque sequence for the valley cover bolts. Maybe someone here has the sequence; it wasn’t in the Haynes manual. I started with the middle row and worked outward in an X pattern, like the intake manifold bolt torque sequence.
