Hey guys,
I just picked up my truck from the mechanic and he was unable to replicate the problem. So I figured I would ask on here maybe someone could help. (Sorry for the long post I wanted to give as much detail as possible)
Thursday started truck, about a min later truck started idling rough. (It was roughly 25 degrees outside) To the point in shut it off. Gave it a moment and restarted it. Was great. Drove down the road, stopped truck acted like it wanted to die. Put it in neutral tapped gas a little, it was fine. Drove it for the next 30 mins. No problems at all. Took care of horses came out leave barn, truck started fine. Check engine light came on. Took to Orileys, p0174 fuel trim system lean bank 2, p0171 fuel trim system lean bank 1. They recommended cleaning throttle body. Drove it home no problems cleaned throttle body, checked air filter everything good. Put back together. Check engine light still on. Took to Orileys same codes. Okay, called mech in Am, tells me to bring it. Truck starts just fine. However, now check engine light is flashing. Sat there in my driveway for a few mins (truck is running fine, no issue except the light) start driving it to mech, check engine light stops flashing then stays on. 5 mins later light turns off completely. Mech kept it all weekend, it was very cold he kept it inside (no heat in shop so it allowed it to get really cold) he didn't have one problem with it. No leaks, nothing. This is making me a bit nervous as I am pulling my horses with it next weekend. I have a backup truck just in case. But has anyone had this issue before? He suspects the lower intake manifold gasket but doesn't want to tear it apart unless he absolutely has to. I've already fixed my tow/haul button thanks to this forum as well. Hoping maybe someone else has any ideas? Thank you!!!

Just went through this same issue with my 04 but without the flashing mil. Same codes. Have the fuel trim levels checked with scanner using live data. I'll try and find the thread to inturpit the readings, but in the end mine needs intake manifold gaskets. Very common issue with the 5.3 motor and others. I'll bet that's your issue.
