you cant say trucks have beds...ORRRRRRRRRRRRR....because now your making exceptions

think about this...we arent even using the right term...if you wanna get techinical...the one with a bed is a PICK-UP.

Its simple...every aspect of this SUV can be found on the similar model pick-up from the back doors forward...they just welded a camper shell on it....its built on a TRUCK chasis...uses a TRUCK engine, a TRUCK transmission, TRUCK headlights, TRUCK bumpers, TRUCK mirrors, TRUCK seats, TRUCK steering wheel, TRUCK center console, TRUCK door moldings, TRUCK radiator, TRUCK differentials, TRUCK wheels, TRUCK hood, TRUCK fenders, TRUCK windshield, TRUCK dashboard, TRUCK A/C vents, TRUCK wheels, etc....get the point?

as cute as all the little word games are..let be realistic...every piece of our SUV is truck except the molded camper shell...iono bout any of you...but Im not dumb enough to confuse a corvette and a silverado while looking at them in my rear view mirror...but its too easy to confuse the silverado and tahoe.

SUV (sport utility vehicle) gives it a more distinguished class to fit in.

From wiki:
"A sport utility vehicle (SUV) is a generic marketing term for a vehicle similar to a station wagon, but built on a light-truck chassis.[1] Usually equipped with four-wheel drive for on- or off-road ability, and with some pretension or ability to be used as an off-road vehicle, some SUVs include the towing capacity of a pickup truck with the passenger-carrying space of a minivan. Since SUVs are considered light trucks and often share the same platforms of pick-ups, they are regulated less strictly than passenger cars under the two laws in the United States, the Energy Policy and Conservation Act for fuel economy, and the Clean Air Act for emissions"

This goes for any SUV thats based off the truck design...its built from the ground up as a truck...then they throw an enclosed body ontop of it.

This does not go for Honda CRV and other "mini SUVs"...as they are built completely different

buts its a fake truck. Real trucks have fully boxed heavy duty frames (case in point even the 1500 is not a real truck, but more of a real truck than anything else) also pick up is actually a slang term (look it up). IF you want to get super technical go to chevys website. Look up the TRUCK colum. you see the avalanche (which has a bed) the silverado (which has a bed and a heavy duty platform) and the colorado (which has a bed)

Look up the SUV colum and it has the tahoe (omg) the suburbam (omgx2) the traverse, and something else cause I dont feel like looking.

The point is when the the tahoe was brought to life it was part of a new vehicle platform and it was coined the suv. The truck goes to work, the suv goes to play. So IM just going by what GM has told me very clearly on thier website.

Also I guess this needs to be said. I dont see anybody here other than a few people, using their suv like it was intended. Hell I dont see silverados and sierras used like their supposed to be used. Only people that ever use their truck buy 2500 or 3500 HD trucks, because they know they are going to use them to their full advantage (explaining why I say the HD platform is the only real truck). The 1500 platform is reserved for people who want the look, but dont care about actual capabilities.

well technically the k5 had a bed ( I took the top off of mine and never put it back until I sold it). I have no idea on the suburban though.

SUV is just an industry term so the "vehicle" could have its own classification for emmisions and tax reasons.

Personally, I dont care much what its called as long as you dont call mine a car! SUV just sounds extra soccer mom-ish.

hehehe, well lets stop kidding our selfs here, who do you see mostly driving around in these trucks? Women with kids, and those stupid stickers on the rear window that talk about their honer role students, and have every family member including the dogs, cats, fish, rats living under the house etc. Hell even pick up trucks have become a womens vehicle of choice, even if all that is ever put in the bed is shopping bags and groceries.

whats really bad is cruzing in the vette I see more females than males driving one. Its like 1:1 almost.

I'm one of the few that actually uses mine as a 4x4 occasionally...and it's a pretty Denali. But, I have things to do and places to get to that require a little off-roading. Not to mention the snow around here. I will never lower a truck...if I want a low vehicle, I'll get a car. I might lift a truck, though. Maybe my Denali someday.

I also haul a lot of crap other then people, which is one of the reasons I got this. It can haul a load and tow a load like a TRUCK. Therefore, mine is a truck for my purposes, despite being classified as an SUV.
