They won't repair the hood. They'll just replace it and it'll probably be cheaper for you if they do replace it. A custom hood like that, though, they'll probably ask you to locate the new one for them because the majority of body shops know nothing about getting custom parts unless you take it to a custom shop for the repairs.

Yeah, that's gonna be a pretty penny. I just found it. Kinda funny, I paid $80 for it off CL. :chewie:

Update: Got a call today. The other driver's insurance accepted liability. The adjuster is coming next week, and they let me pick the body shop. They will also pick up a rental car for me until it's repaired. Can't wait to get it back. I miss driving my truck.

Insurance says it's totaled, but we will see how much they will give me, and how much it is to buy back. The initial adjuster came out today, but had no way to account for the custom wheels, hood, or supercharger in the vehicle's value. The total loss adjuster will take that stuff into account.

Oh boy.

I hate it when adjusters only take into account the year, mileage, "blue book value", and cost of repair. For 99% of vehicles out there I'm sure that sufficient but there are times that the cookie cutter calculations just don't cut it.

Yeah. He did say that the total loss adjuster should be able to take into account the modifications, like the hood, wheels, and supercharger. Heck, I've spent close to 4k in the last year alone. between those last two mods. haha.

Auto body shop quoted $4600 for repairs. Parts alone was close to $2k, the rest was labor. Also, they quoted $465 for a radiator support, but I could probably get one for $100 if I fix it myself. They also had the grille emblem listed at $60 even though mine is perfectly fine. I bet I could get all the parts for less than $500, and get it painted and hood repaired for another $800.

Ok, anyone have any experience on playing hardball with insurance? The first guy said it was a total loss, and referred me to a total loss claims adjuster. Once it gets to him, he says he can't change that it's totaled, so we are fighting to have the original adjuster re-evaluate the value of the vehicle.

They're saying it's worth about $3k. After buy back of $334, they say they would pay me just over $2500. I'm currently compiling a list of modifications and improvements I've made to the sound, body, and performance of the truck. So far, I'm up over $2800 and I haven't even included the $2k I spent on the supercharger and associated parts. If you add that $4800 to the $3k of the truck, it seems to me that it would show this is worth more than their "fair market value" of "comparable" trucks. Honestly, there aren't any "comparable" trucks to this anywhere around here.

The guy also said that he couldn't guarantee that they would be able to factor in the cost of the supercharger in the vehicle's value, because I bought it used and only have receipts for the money orders I used to pay for it, not an official receipt or bill of sale.

Seems like they want to play hard ball. $2500.
I've spent more than that in the last 6 months.

I just got the evaluation that the adjuster made of the truck. He said the tires were at 67% for the front and 75% for the rear.

They were put on 3 MONTHS AGO, and have 3000 MILES!!!!! I'm calling ********. Taking it to my tire shop to have him do tread depth measurements.
