Front Dana 44 Spring perch install and upper shock mount fab....
Started today by getting the front Dana 44 mocked up for the lower shock mounts,spring perch pads and the frame ready for its new upper shock mounts that i will build from scratch.
Started by cutting the existing shock mounts off...
Stock perch pad, wont need these because I am doing a Spring Over Conversion
Notice how the pumpkin side perch is offset, Its so you can get a thick bead of weld in there.
Pinion angle set...
Cutting stock lower shock mounts off....
Spring placement on new pad....
Daughter wanted to design the shock mounts. She's the artist of the fam,so I let her do what she wanted
Now I was planning on re-using these new STOCK plates. Fill holes and drill new ones for the 5/8 u-bolt. After an hour of dicking around, I ordered HD ones from RuffStuffSpecialties.com. DONE DEAL!!!
New Shock mount plasma cut,ground down and flap disc'd
New bottom shock tab welded on....
Both axles are now sent off to the DCA Race shop to get the gear backlash set. I should have back in a week. Once I get them, I can start putting all of the shafts and seals and races in there and get it in "rolling chasis".
