So I'm on the highway going 45 mph and all of the sudden a deer comes out of nowhere. I slow down and before I could react, a second deer slams into my car and ***** it all up. The side air bags deploy immediately and caution lights came on. ****** my front end up real good. The interior pics are after I popped the air bags and stuffed them back into the ceiling of the inside of the vehicle so I could drive again. I don't know how but it also ripped off my driver side side moulding. Luckily I didn't have to get it towed. Reading on several sites, they are saying the car is totaled if the air bags deploy. Anyone with Progressive run into an issue like this? I need to know if they will say it's totaled or not so I can find some factory rims/tires on CL and put em on before they take the car. I also need to find a factory radio to put and take my system out if it IS totaled. If it ISN'T totaled, it still sucks cause now the car looks like shit and it will cost a few grand at the least to get it all fixed up.

That's an easy fix, why would they total it? it's all cosmetic.
Take a deep breath and don't panic. wait to see what the Ins adjuster says. You can always buy it back and fix it yourself.

Dude that sucks Im sorry to hear that , Kinda odd to me why a deer would cause AB deployment but I guess I rather them go off then not , However I have heard if any Airbag deploys they usually total it ,: the argument that goes with this states that Normally in the event of ABD a vehicles frame is usually damaged . But then Ive heard that the value of the vehicle is a factor as well.

Felix I don't think they will total it ... looks about $3-$4K of insurance damage if there's no frame damage.

If you have time grab the check cause you know how to source all the parts for less, otherwise if you can't be bothered to deal with it to make a few hundred bucks then drop it off at the dealer, give 'em your insurance info, rent a ****** car for a week that's covered by your insurance, and let the dealer call you when it's ready.

And for god's sake don't take a hammer to other parts you want replaced ... that would be wrong.

Btw, I'm glad you're ok ... those bastards can really do some damage to life and property, especially a moose: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forum...-esv-forum-2007/434922-escalade-vs-moose.html ... now THAT'S totaled.

Thanks for the advice guys. I don't think it'll be totaled either but just worried it will because of the air bags being deployed. Honestly id rather keep the truck and get it fixed. The only good thing about this is my new headlights (If it's not declared totaled by insurance) will have retrofitted projectors. Guess I will have to wait and see what the insurance adjuster says...

Also my driver side seat belt no longer works... Guessing the air bags being deployed had something to do with this.

I'm glad you're okay man. That's crazy that a deer ran out like that. I hope it's not going to be totaled, that avalanche is sick. If you need some help I'm here in laffy.

Hey no cursing! Jk... I had that shit happen to me awhile back but the deer ran into the side of my truck. Should be all fixable but hard to tell with the airbags, they're expensive. Glad you're safe!

Thanks Ben. I'm glad I didn't get hurt too. After researching, looks like a lot of people get hurt when this happens. Guess I gotta call nordstrom's and get a driver side LTZ side moulding... again :(
