The truck is an 07 escalade 2wd with the 6.2. Not sure how people are blowing out there rear ends with regular towing unless really romping on it, but I learn something new everyday

You might already have the larger fan motors, run your VIN through the ACDelco website and see.

You have the 9.5 rear, so no need to upgrade unless you wanted a more stout carrier later on when it wears out. it's the 8.6s that give up the ghost when towing a lot.

I tried lookin at the acdelco website but couldn't figure it out, according to the RPO codes in the glove box I don't have the heavy duty cooling option, I have a tranny cooler but that's it.

Any way to just put the bigger fan motors in instead?

NO, the motors, housing and fan blades are completely different, the only thing that matches up is the electrical harness plug. I verified with gm the harness plug and relay are the same, so all have to do is swap the entire fan housing, no programming or anything is needed.

Bummer, how do you tell the difference between the 2 fans? I tried searching on car-part.com but it didn't distinguish between the 2. I even googled the HD fans but 1aauto gave me 2 separate units but didn't supply details about power usage

ya there is I think 3 different k5l versions and lots of chinese knock off junk
your best bet is to go with a used oem one like this
which by the way is the only "legit" one on ebay at the moment and thats a good price, same as what I paid for mine
