LH Rad support bracket on frame

Mine is looking a little desperate so I picked up a replacement part, prepped and coated it. I haven't had an opportunity to swap it out yet but looking at it I noticed what looks like two small beads along the bottom.

Is there a sealant there or are they bolted AND welded from the factory?

That looks like a small bead of weld to me, should break off fairly easy.

I believe that those are tack welds, probably used in the assembly process to 'hold' the part in place, until the bolts were put in to complete the attachment process.

I'd call them tack welds too. Not hard to cut into or just muscle them off.

A bit off topic, but you could do yourself a big favour and treat some of the rust at your frame. I did a rustoration on my 97 Yukon in the summer, and was introduced to “Corroseal”. It is a rust converter that you can brush or spray on. It turns rust into a hard black “Magnetite” which stops the electrolytic process the rust needs to grow. I hit my frame with a wire wheel to get any larger scale off, pressure washed it and brushed the whole frame with the corroseal. Then I painted it matte black with a rattle can. Just thought I would share.
