I drive a 2016 Yukon Denali that has the 6.2 liter engine paired with the 8-speed transmission. I have approximately 23,000 miles on the vehicle. My lifetime fuel economy is 18.5 mpg. I'm curious: (1) would the 10-speed transmission give better fuel economy; and (2) do others with the 6.2 liter engine get similar fuel economy results? On a flat surface on the highway, I get about 23 MPG. I do think that the numbers are impressive given the weight of the vehicle.

I've got a '16 XL Denali and I get very similar results as what you have posted. Very pleased with the fuel mileage of this giant SUV. I dropped a bit when I put on larger tires, but I'm waiting to get a tune back from Black Bear to get my lost mpg back, extra power, and smoother shifting. Win-win.

Is just depends on the way you drive the vehicle,
Also where you live if the terrain is flat or with mountain .
Also how many people and load you pulling.

We usually only average 15mpg on our 2011 6.2L Denali. Probably 75% city driving and 25% Highway at 80-85 MPH.

I get roughly the same mileage as you posted. 17' XL with 11k miles. Just wish it had more power.

Yes a 10 speed would get better mileage but not that much. To give you an idea of how good yours is I have an 07 Denali with a 6 speed auto and lifetime is 12.4. I’m not a hard driver and live in a fairly flat area. My highway mpg is 17.
