Hey guys, I know this might be a bit of a long shot, but I'm looking into getting an 07-08 Cherokee. And wanted to get some feedback on an problems and what to look for with these, apart from the normal per buy inspection. Thanks !

I had an 07 jeep SRT8 was a blast to drive could spank a lot of sports cars off the line due to AWD and 420 horses and torque #s. Transfercases could be a problem if someone kept there foot in it, I can recall a lot of guys upgrading when i was on the Jeep forum. As a matter of fact join cherokeesrt8.com all the info you could ever want is there.

I had an 06'. Only put less than 10K on it and sold it. During the time I had it no major issues-just a few small warranty things/recalls. I would definitely purchase an extended warranty for any Chrysler product IMO. I bought mine with under 9K on it and sold it with just less than 20K. They are fast as shit and will rip up pretty much anything on the road(within reason). Mine had the usual suspects(CAI,exhaust, custom tune, tstat, and some exterior goodies. Took it to the track a handful of times. Stock it ran 13.3ish + or - a tenth and after mods I was running high 12's with a best of 12.89. If you planning on serious mods though--beefing up the transfer case is a must. Like stated above-sign up on cherokeesrt8.com and soak up the knowledge. It is a fun vehicle just an expensive hobby at the end of the day. Not to mention the 12-13 mpgs you will get out of that 6.1

Yeah, I wouldn't be doing much to the engine, it's fast enough already IMO, exhaust for sure but that's probably it. Any way to see if the t case has been taken care of apart from fluid quality that people have been doin ?

my boss had one. Besides the looks and power, the only complaint was tires. Pax Tires on those are really expensive and they cannot be rotated because the rear is wider than front. That being the case, Scalloping is a issue. He told me it was like 800 for rear tires or something like that.

Speaking of tires----they came stock with runflats and no spare tire because of the center mounted rear exhaust. The fronts are 9's and the rears are 10 if I recall correctly.

Well for me cost of buying and upkeep is not an issue , unless I have to drop 5 grand unexpectedly for a new tranny. Tires and general maintenance isn't a huge issue, I just don't wanna have a major component fail because I missed something when buying it. that's more of what I was getting at.

good topic, just trade it mine in for the 08 Denali fully loaded. My jeep had 37k miles and i had mine tuned, it was fast and a blast to drive BUT by far the most uncomfortable SUV ever. Solid rear axle + stiff sport suspension + 5000lbs dont well at all (at least here in Michigan roads). I had to replace the trans output shaft once and the rear end start winning, i had extended warrranty so that took care of those. They are very solid trucks and solid engines, the t-case is faaaar from being a problem, i launched mine more than i can count. They are 70/30 tq split with awd on demand meaning the front tires ONLY kick in when the rear loose traction. The 6.1 is a beast but horrible, i mean horrible gas mileage i have seen as low as 10mpg in the city. I traded it in for a few things i hated:
1) very small suv
2) no spare tire for long trips
3) small gas tank+very bad gas mileage = fill up every 3 days
4) not very comfortable/very bouncy BUt the seats are nice

if you have a bug SUV already and want a toy i say go for it
