Loud noise from engine after flush

Guy didnt come back to set cam timing.is there a way i can do this without a scan tool. I need my truck today to prepare for my daughters birthday in 2 days.

Need to set the engine at top dead center or cylinder one at the end of its stroke. Take the distributor and line the rotating plate and there is a number 8 stamped on it and line that up to the number 6 I think is stamped on the body. Hold that in place and lower the distributor down in place. You may have to try this several times before you get it to drop down flush making sure not the rip the lower gasket on the dist. When done the flat side of the distributor should be parallel with the back of the intake manifold angle.

Did some digging around my engine and i Found out what the loud noise was. It was my canister purge valve. I guess when the mechanic did the work they broke parts And didn't tell me. But the nipple on the valve was broken off making a real loud pop sound.
