I know this has been covered but not quiet the same as my issue. Truck idles fine until it gets warm and then as I'm driving and come to a stop light or stop sign the RPM's drop down to about 400 for a few seconds and almost feels like it wants to cut off but then goes back to normal. Only does it ever so often and I have no idea what it could be. Once the truck is put in park RPMs are fine. I have a 2004 Tahoe Z71 with 130,000 miles, I have cleaned the MAF sensor and Throttle body, there are no leaks that I can see with the eye, any help would be awesome.

Ok so my issue is getting worse. It's pretty cool out this morning for Arizona and went out this morning, drove for about 5 miles and pulled into a parking spot and the RPMs dropped down so low the power steering disabled and almost shut off, but there was no shaking of the truck that I could feel. Applied brake and same until tahoe was put I to park and RPMs went back to normal. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm over in the west valley, at the Base. I am not having any transmission issues at all. I bought the truck about three years ago so not sure when the fuel filter or spark plugs or wires have been changed. Filter does not look to old and same with plug wires.

Torque converter clutch solenoid – The torque converter clutch solenoid is an electronic component that controls the amount of fluid that is passed on to the torque converter clutch. If it malfunctions, too much or too little fluid will be released which will cause abnormal fluid pressures. This will lead to irregular behavior such as poor fuel economy and stalling.

yours doesnt completely die so the TCC solenoid valve is probably sticking
that would be my best guess

and if replacing that doesnt fix it then its the torque conveter clutch wich is not an easy

either way if you need a hand let me know a soldier is always happy lend an airmen a hand yer buying the beer though LOL
i rebuilt the 4l60e in my tahoe last year so i know my way around that tranny

Pull off the intake tube and clean your throttle plate on your throttle body. Use carb cleaner or brake cleaner sprayed onto a rag and wipe the plate and the bore.

From your symptoms it will probably be pretty black around the edges of the throttle plate. You can spray carb cleaner directly onto the throttle plate and bore as well just make sure that if you do, try not to get too much into the intake behind the thottle plate as it will have a harder time starting when you crank it over. If it does have a hard time starting just depress the accelerator pedal a bit while cranking to allow the throttle plate to open and let more air in. Once it starts up release the pedal.
