Look at Borla's mufflers. They are a bit more expensive but IMO they sound great. I think the big SUV model they make runs around $300 but i would rather do that than buying a cat back. My stock pipes are plenty big enough so the muffler is all im after, unless you are getting headers and the works.

And yes, the 40 series is louder than the 50! Check out flowmasters site, they even have sound bites to listen to!

I had dual 40's on my 06 gto with a 600 lift cam on a 112 and boy it sounded nice... When I would cruise it was smooth no rasp just good rumble, idle was thumpin and deep toned. When I hammered down of the 446hp they really sounded nice. That was true dual though with an h pipe setup. Big difference from our hoes and yuks but I liked them

Many years ago, I had an '83 Caprice as a daily driver.

One day, the CAT "fell off" and somehow, miraculously a straight pipe appeared in its place. Greatly improved the performance of the car, it truly felt like it was running much better.

What do our 5.3s do with a high flow cat/missing cat? Has anybody tried this?

if anyone does the research, flowshitter flows less than a stock muffler. they are dyno proven to decrease horsepower. atleast on fbodies. the are only louder because they are chambered. loud has nothing to do with flow performance though.

now me personally, i have had flowmasters on 2 vehicles...never again.

Don't even know the size to be honest with you, Dual in Dual out. I changed the package tips to rolled from angled cut. The package they offered was single in dual out for $286. Which would not have worked for the Denali since they are dual, dual. Mine set me back $407. Only pics I can post is finaproduct no step by step
