I hear ay, finding a job is tough at your age, especially mine. If you don't get a job, its not alway worth the money and time. My twin brother scoops ice cream and makes 20 a month. Waste of time. One of the best jobs ive had a detailing for a used car dealership. I made a TON of money and got to drive some awesome cars. I had to quit though because my family forced me to go on vacation. Now i do marketing and advertising for a performance parts company. My friend started the whole thing. Your dad seems like a smart guy and im sure he wouldn't mind helping you out. A lot of these big online dealers are looking for smaller people to distribute products. In fact friday we just signed with Fox Racing Shocks. We are the only dealer in NJ. Get a couple friends together, call some companies up and ask about dealership opportunities. Get someone who knows computers to set up a website and your off. Of course theres a lot more to maintaining it but thats a whole new story. Try it out. Off road unlimited is looking for dealers now. I would give them a call. If you look under 4 wheel parts info page they show where they get there products. You could work with them too. Im sure you can sell a ton of stuff to kids at your school. High school kids go crazy of the stupid things like HIDs and stick on stuff. Make a profit off it.

Even if you had 5/10k left after selling your truck, you wouldn't make up the amount you lost on depreciation in gas savings. I know that is sorta hard for people to wrap their heads around. Don't get me wrong, you come out "ahead" on cold, hard cash, but you still lost money. It is hard to make money by losing money, BUT that doesn't mean it isn't a better investment to get a lower priced car w/ better mpgs. It is generally better to take a hit on loss and make up for it with savings from paying things off faster b/c they have a lower total cost (i.e. you pay less interest and overall money). I guess what I am saying is just don't think you are going to recoup the money you lost in the depreciation of your truck in gas savings, though you can make it up in other savings (sorta. :) ). Oh, and don't read any reviews of the 2011 Mustang vs the Camaro, unless you want your mind changed. lol. Finally, there is a lot more to a job than making money, there is a lot of learning that you can find in any type of job, from scooping ice cream to valet parking, there are always lessons.

Zach -- Sounds like you need to prioritize some. No job, but three vacations planned? Maybe you should get a job IN LIEU of the vacations, you know? Or, maybe you take one (two, even) vacations instead of three.

Well, one is a trip to Washington DC. I won an essay contest and they select about 40 kids from around the state to go. My teacher forced us all to enter as it was a 100-point grade, and my essay happened to win. And I want to go - it'll look good on resumes for jobs and college.

Another one is a trip to California as a reward for having straight A's all school year. :)

And the last is the only family-oriented vacation to Florida - the only one I knew about for quite a while.

I've looked soo hard for a job, and I've made it to several interviews, but hours never seem to work out for the employer until summer. Which now has, as I said, 3 vacations in the way. If someone would hire me and not mind the plans I already have, that'd be great! Oh and I really wanted a detailing/wash job and almost got one last year! :)

But, anyways, I still don't know what to think. Today I'm hoping my dad will come with me to Chevrolet to test drive some, they have 3 on the lot. I just want this to be done with.

You could always detail cars on your own time. just drive around for a day and place some fliers on cars. Thats what i did. I put them on all the high end cars and the some cars and trucks that had some mods. Those are usually the people that care and appreciate a good detail. Im sure some people in your neighborhood wouldn't mind payin ya to clean there car up.

Eh, mowing might be harding then you think. If your neighborhood is anything like mine, people pay good money to have their lawns cut nice. Even if you offered a lower price, they dont mind paying the extra for good quality. Your neighbors could be different.

Insurance was a LOT more, I'm keeping my Tahoe. :D

Thank GOD. It was up to my dad, and once he heard the price quote for the insurance, we turned around (we were on our way to test drive).

I do mow in the summer though, my dad pays me $10 per hour to mow his insanely large front yard. I make good money off that!
