NEVER USE 4WD ON DRY PAVEMENT!!! You will damage the system on DRY pavement! You will also get binding when turning which is NORMAL and means the system is working properly. You will get more binding on a Tahoe because it is short wheel base, even a 2WD will bind slightly when turned sharply because of that and the tight turning radius.

If you want 4WD all the time, you need to buy a Denali with AWD or an H2 with full-time 4WD where the systems are designed to run all the time.

Just to revive an old thread. I just replaced my ball joints and bearings and my moaning and groaning 4wd noise is gone! Must have been a bearing.

I've been experiencing these symptoms once in awhile. The groaning happens when turning into a parking space or driveway at low speeds. I don't see it affecting the actual functionality of the vehicle, just a bit embarrassing when you have female passengers in the vehicle and your Denali is making Jalopyious noises. LOL.

Wheel bearing and ball joints are something I will need to have fixed soon though. I'll keep you guys posted to double verify that those replacement parts for sure take care of the noise.

Did anyone else solve the noise issue? Turning to the left in 4WD and getting the grinding/grumbling noises to stop?
