Good Morning Chris ... I have a 1998 Tahoe (2 Door) and am thinking about upgrading the stock radio (am/fm/cassette - with aux single disc CD player). Problem is the DIN size is 1-1/2 and I have not been able to find an upgrade the same size. I want to maintain the stock look. I have seen complete dash conversion kits (around $400-$500) and would prefer not to go that way. Any suggestions and help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob
well back in the day i believe kenwood or clarion had a din and a half stereo but noone does that anymore the choice you have is single din.

Welcome to TYF from another Chris, 2 hours east of you in BR and thanks for offering your experience!

Since you offered, whatcha know about Mitsubishi? I have a Kenwood DD to go into a 2011 Outlander Sport- 6 speaker system, no nav or Rockford Fosgate system. I believe that, on this level, it can be viewed as a Lancer. I have the Metra dash kit and harness and an Axxess ASWC-1. The factory radio has two harness plugs going to it and it looks like one is the basic power and speaker circuits and the other is the USB, AUX, microphone, etc. circuits. I am not finding solid info on where to get the car's data wire to connect the ASWC-1. Best I've found is the steering wheel control wires are in that other harness. I'm fine with cutting and tapping into them, just need to know what's what.

some of the pioneer evo series are single din but have a 7" or 8" screen on the front, one of them is completely modular, the alpine 1207 is vehicle specific but could maybe be worked in, just gotta think outside the box, some marine radio's are 1.5 din, alpine halo9 is also a single din with 9" screen, they also have ilx units that are single din with a larger screen in front

so this one is rather easy just change the radio to an aftermarket unit. at best buyyou can get an android auto/apple carplay receiver for alot hceaper than other local shops and they come with free installation or if you would to do it yourself just let me know and i can walk you through it.

If I install an aftermarket unit with DVD capability, such as the Sony XAV-AX200SXM, I am concerned about how the rear DVD monitor/controls will be integrated. Would the rear DVD controls still work the same, how about the RCA jack inputs? Is there a better stereo/DVD player use?

Thx!
